Lowell Milton Jontz, 93, of Canton, Ga., formerly of Buda, passed away Monday, April 23, 2016, at the Canton Nursing Home in Canton, Ga. Born May 22, 1922, in Buda to Roy and Ethyl Nina (Anderson) Jontz, he married Maxine Alice Bitting May 29, 1943, in Buda. She preceded him in death on March 24, 2004. He was a farmer in the Buda area for 50 years. He was a member of Buda United Methodist Church and Bureau County Farm Bureau. He was also president and a former board member of the Western School District. Surviving are one daughter, Sheryle (Mark) Van De Water of Canton, Ga.; one son, Dennis (Maryann) Jontz of Albuquerque, N.M.; four grandchildren, Ashlee Jontz of Chandler, Ariz., Charlee Jontz of Chandler, Ariz., Kim (John) Rogers of Canton, Ga., and Mark (Amy) Van De Water IV of Alpharetta, Ga.; and four great-grandchildren, Jake Rodgers, Jared Rodgers, Mark Van De Water V and Kathryn Van De Water. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton, with the Rev. Terry Lancaster officiating. Burial will be in Hopeland Cemetery, Buda. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Buda Rescue Squad, Hopeland Cemetery or Crossroads Hospice.

  1. I always enjoyed my time up in Wisconsin at Lake Mills. That included a lot of time with Lowell and Maxine. That was fun times. Sorry for your loss.

  5. As I understand the story, your parents were responsible for my parents getting together. Now, they are all gone and we are left with wonderful memories. Cherish those and know that our thoughts and prayers will be with you and the family!
