Lorraine Lynette (Scace) Bardell, 69, of Wyanet died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at home peacefully with family and loved ones after a long battle with cancer. She was born July 31, 1940, in Shullsburg, Wis., the daughter of Austin and Elizabeth (Mullen) Scace. On Oct. 30, 1957, she married Merle R. Bardell in Keokuk, Iowa. Mrs. Bardell worked at the U.S. Post Office in Princeton until her retirement. She was a member of the Camera Club, Wyanet V.F.W. Auxiliary, worked at the Bureau County Fair as superintendent of the art department. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and she had many passions, cooking, photography, sewing, bowling and working with antiques. She is survived by her husband, Merle of Wyanet; one daughter, Pam Bardell of Wyanet; three sons, Randy (Ronda) Bardell of Estacada, Ore., Kerry Bardell of Marengo, Iowa, and Todd Bardell of Texas; eight grandchildren, Brandy (Juan) Rameriz, Jennifer (Anthony) Allen, Heather Bardell, Damian (Christy) Bardell, Ben Bardell, Micah Bardell, Amanda (James) Fox and Annie Dobson; nine great-grandchildren, Johnny, Skyler, Emilee, Aden, Eion, Summer, Michelle, Michaela and Sam; five sisters, Joyce Bradbury of Eagle Creek, Ore., Julia Bear of Freeport, Corlyn (Todd) Rutter of Springfield, Thora (David) Bradbury of Cedarville and Virginia (David) Kentner of Freeport; five brothers, Orthel (Juanita) Scace of Waddams Grove, Charles (Gloria) Scace of Lena, Harry (Mary Kaye) Metz-Scace of Gratiot, Wis., Harold Scace of Woodbine and Steven (Dee) Scace of Pearl City; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; parents; stepfather, Shirl Hilliard; infant brother, Stanley Scace; and brother, Edgar Scace. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, 30 W. Mechanic St., Princeton, with the Rev. Barbara Ollila officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Wyanet. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, 30 W. Mechanic St., Princeton. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude''s Children''s Research Center in Peoria. Pallbearers will be Damian Bardell, James Fox, Marshall Bardell, Eldon Bardell, Ray Bardell and Wayne Bardell.
