Lora Lee Ryan

Ryan (Swanson), Lora Lee age 63 formerly from Manlius, Illinois passed away Thursday, February 13 surrounded by family at her home in Plainfield, Illinois. She was a graduate Manlius High School class of 1974 and received her Bachelor Degree from Northern Illinois University class of 1978.

Lora met John Ryan, the love of her life, while at Northern Illinois University. Lora married John in November 1979. She was a stay at home mom for many years before working as a copywriter and a teacher’s aide in the early 1990s.  

Beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She loved the Wizard of Oz and collecting PEZ and had an extensive collection of both. She also enjoyed every minute of helping babysit her grandchildren. 

Lora was preceded in death by her husband John Ryan and her father Gail Edward Swanson.

She is survived by her daughter Megan (Todd) Madsen, mother Lois Swanson, sister Kathy (Ron) Johnson, grandsons Thomas Ryan Madsen, Mitchell Timothy Madsen, nieces Kara (Aaron) West, and Kacee (Nick) Poxson, and great nephew Jackson Gail West.

Services will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 11am at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 202 South 4th Street, Manlius, Illinois 61338. Vicar Ryan Mackey officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior at the church. Interment will be at the Manlius Cemetery.
