Lawrence Leo Henderson Sr., 78, of Princeton passed away at 7 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013, at home in Princeton. Born Dec. 9, 1934, in Chicago to Bernard and Mary (Owens) Henderson, he married Charlotte Mae Thompson Aug. 22, 1992, in Chicago. She survives. He graduated from Tilden High School in Chicago. He was a supervisor for IDOT. He served as a PFC in the U.S. Army and was a Ranger in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton and the Knights of Columbus, where he was a past grand knight and district deputy. Also surviving are four sons, Larry (Victoria) Henderson of Plainfield, James (Debbie) Henderson of Worth, Joseph (Maureen) Henderson of Chicago and Jeffery Estrada of Chicago; three daughters, Laura Lindsey of Orlando, Fla., Judy (Terry) Madison of Chicago and Alisa Hall of Princeton; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Toddy (Kate) Henderson of Beecher and Buddy (Carmen) Henderson of Chicago; and one sister, Donna Doyle of Palos Hills. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Charmaine Plaisance. A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton, with Father Jeffrey Stirniman officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Color Guard will be in attendance. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or the American Kidney Association.
