LaVerne Harvey House, 85, of Princeton died at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at Colonial Hall Care Center in Princeton. Born Sept. 25, 1923, in Ness City, Kan., to William G. and Cora Mae (Ettridge) House, he married Irene Mae Hansen Jan. 5, 1944, in Princeton. She survives. He was a 1942 graduate of Manlius High School and a lifetime farmer, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Bureau Township Community Church in rural Wyanet, where he served as a church board member, Sunday school teacher and church deacon. He was the Gold Township District 1 drainage commissioner, a member of the Bureau County Farm Bureau and had served on the Bureau Township Board. Also surviving are three sons, Harvey (Maria) House of Princeton, William A. (Lane) House of Sheffield and Jerry (Cindy) House of LaMoille; two daughters, Carolyn (Frank) Antonovitz of South Bend, Ind., and Marilyn (Chip) Johnston of Princeton; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William and Earl House; and two sisters, Ethel Wick and Hazel Krager. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Bureau Township Community Church, rural Wyanet, with the Rev. Marvin Claassen officiating. Burial will be in the Manlius Cemetery, Manlius. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton. Memorials may be directed to the Bureau Township Community Church or the donor''s choice.
