Laurence Eugene Markley, 70, of Princeton passed away at 12:05 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at the Toulon Health Care Center in Toulon. Born June 12, 1943, in Princeton to John Delbert and Edith (Fulkerson) Markley, he married Cleo A. Clodfelter Feb. 15, 1963, in Princeton. She survives. He was a 1962 graduate of Princeton High School. He worked for the street department for the city of Princeton, retiring in 2000. He liked to collect arrow heads and loved fishing, boating and camping. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Princeton. Also surviving are one daughter, Laurie (Chris Arnold) Gebhart of Sterling Heights, Mich.; one son, Laurence E. (Stacey) Markley of Princeton; two granddaughters, Tanya (Christopher) Wioskoski of Roseville, Mich., and Ashley Arnold of Sterling Heights, Mich.; step-granddaughter, Kaylie Turner of Puducah, KY.; two grandsons, Cory Gebhart of Sterling Heights, Mich., and Austin Markley of Rolla, Mo.; two step-grandsons, Cory and Devon Miller of Princeton, IL.; great-granddaughter, Addison Wioskoski of Roseville, Mich.; one brother, John Dewayne (Debra) Markley of Princeton; a niece and nephew; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Donald Lee Markley; one grandson, Eric Gebhart; and one stepbrother, Delbert Markley. Private family services will be Monday at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Willy Minnix officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded after the services. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family of Laurence Markley.
