Larry L. Johnson, 68, of Princeton died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. He was born April 6, 1948, in Princeton, the son of LaVern and Phyllis Johnson. He married his wife, Jill A. Johnson, on Nov. 1997, in Princeton. She survives. He graduated from Walnut Community High School in 1966. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Illinois in 1970. After college Larry moved to Princeton and worked as a loan officer for Citizens First National Bank. He left the bank to return to a lifelong love of farming and was also a commodity broker. He was a past chairman of the Board of Directors at Perry Memorial Hospital. Larry was a member of the Hampshire Colony Church of Princeton, where he served as a past treasurer. Survivors include his parents, two stepchildren, Ryan Jeralds of Herrin and Kedra (Ron) Potocnik of Chicago; four grandchildren; four sisters, Penny (Kris) Lauritzen, Sharon (John) VanLanduit, Kayla (Steve) Subaric and CaraLee (Craig) Guinn; one brother, Roger (Dana) Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judith Holland Johnson; his paternal grandparents, Carl and Ella Johnson; and his maternal grandparents, Elma and Dorothy McElvania. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, at the Grant- Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Karl Johnson officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded.

  5. Jill: We are so very shocked and saddened by Larry’s passing. We looked forward to future golf games where we girls would try to beat those guys!! We did get lucky and beat them once! We had a lot of fun! Our condolences to you and all your family. Remember the good times!

    Larry Johnson came into our lives around 20 years ago, through you all. We loved him instantly, and he and our son Nick became great buddies.
