Kermit "Murrel" Baker, 83, of Wyanet died at 5:50 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, at his home in Wyanet. Born Feb. 23, 1933, in Newkirk, Okla., to Kermit and Ruth (Shelton) Baker, he married Joanne Hall July 2, 1953, in Silvis. She survives. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Carpenter''s Union. He was a bass player for the Rhythm Kings, formerly known as the String Busters. He was a member of the Wyanet Old Car Club. Also surviving are two sons, Kevin Baker of Woodland Hills, Calif., and Craig (Rita) Baker of Princeton; three grandchildren, Jesse Baker of Bettendorf, Iowa, Caleb (Sarah) Baker of Woodbury, Minn., and Jordan (Alex) Marquis of Dunlap; five great-grandchildren, Brenleigh Baker of Bettendorf, Iowa, Jonah and Levi Baker of Woodbury, Minn., and Owen and Eliott Marquis of Dunlap; three brothers, Marvin Baker of Wyanet, Milton (Janice) Baker of Atoka, Tenn., and Mark (Debra) Baker of Wyanet; three sisters, Maxine Mc Mahon of Moweaqua, Mona (Robert) Johnson of Princeton and Marlene (Garold) Howes of Princeton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mardell Swords and Marchell Sissel; and one brother, Max Baker. Private services will be Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Judy Giese officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Wyanet. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the donor''s choice.
