Kenneth Ray Klingenberg

Kenneth Ray Klingenberg, 92, of Wyanet passed away at 5:25 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at his home in Wyanet surrounded by family. Born July 27, 1923, in LaMoille to Edward and Anna (Steele) Klingenberg, he married Dona Hartwig Jan. 19, 1949, in Arkansas. She survives. He attended Wyanet schools. He was a farmer most of his life and worked at Prince Warehouse in Princeton. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. He loved the outdoors, including hunting and fishing, and most of all he enjoyed time with his family. He served as a private first class in the U.S. Army and the Merchant Marines. Also surviving are two sons, Larry (Glenda) Klingenberg of Wyanet and Rex (Roxi) Klingenberg of Wyanet; a special nephew, Ed (Gaylena) Maupin of Princeton; four grandchildren, Derick (Tina) Klingenberg of Princeton, Kristie Klingenberg of Princeton, Jerad (Elizabeth) Klingenberg of Princeton and Adam Klingenberg of Wyanet; six great-grandchildren, Kamilla, Zeke, Addysen, Kelsea, Jaydeyn and Brysen; one sister, Mary Olson of Walnut; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 28, at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton with Tom Odell officiating. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Memorial Park, Princeton, with military rites accorded by Wyanet VFW Post 6634. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 27, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Wyanet Rescue and VITAS Hospice Care. Pallbearers will be Larry Klingenberg, Rex Klingenberg, Derick Klingenberg, Adam Klingenberg, Eddie Maupin and Todd Maupin. Honrary pallbearers will be Jerad Klindenberg, Chad Maupin and Scott Maupin.

It was with great sadness hearing about Kenny. He was just a wonderful guy That I first got to know when I was a kid and he farmed my dad’s farm. Many times he and my dad and me would go fishing at the canal. I’ll never forget those fun and simpler days.
