Kate M. OMalley

 Kate M. O'Malley, 74, of Ohio, Illinois passed away unexpectedly Sunday, December 5, 2021 at OSF St. Clare Medical Center, Princeton.

 She was born August 19, 1947 in Faglum, Sweden the daughter of Erik and Irma (Hasselblad) Niord.

 Kate married Mike O'Malley on September 2, 1972 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ohio, Illinois. He survives in Ohio.

 She is also survived by four children: Janel (Mike) Blaine of Appleton, WI, Margie (John) Retzler of Algonquin, IL, Lisa (Sean) Schnepper of Oconomowoc, WI, and Steven (Crystal) O'Malley of Woodbury, MN; 9 grandchildren: Jason and Aaron Blaine, Meghan and Lucas Retzler, Ty, Anna, and Thomas Schnepper, and Willa and Vianne O'Malley; three brothers: Leif (Nilgun) Niord, Ulf Niord, Jorgen (Agneta) Niord all of Sweden and several nieces and nephews. 

 She was preceded in death by her parents.

 After attending school and a career in caregiving she came to the United States in 1971.

 Kate was a member of the Ohio Women's Club and was an active volunteer in the Ohio Schools for numerous years. She enjoyed spending her summers in Sweden.

 She was kindhearted and cared for others more than herself. She will especially be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and Mormor and Farmor.  

 Cremation rites will be accorded. A visitation will be held from 11:00 - 11:30 a.m. prior to the service Saturday at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton. A prayer service will be held 11:30 Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton with Rev. Gene Vincent officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Ohio Fire Department in Kate's memory.
