Joyce M. Crawford, 86, of Princeton died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2020, surrounded by her family.
Joyce was born July 29, 1933, in Berkeley, the daughter of Larkin and Charlotte (Shelton) Tyler. She married Raymond J. Crawford on July 31, 1954, in Berkeley. He survives in Princeton.
She graduated from Proviso West High School in Hillside. She worked in the cafeteria at MacArthur Junior High School in Berkeley for many years. She was also a secretary for many years for Dresser Manufacturing in Franklin Park.
She enjoyed, sewing, crafting, painting and golfing. Joyce judged the Bureau County 4-H fair for many years. She loved her flower gardening and traveling. She travelled many places with her husband, Ray.
Also surviving is one daughter, Catherine (Dan) Murray of Rock Hill, S.C.; two sons, David Crawford of Houston, Texas, and Robert (Rosemarie) Crawford of Princeton; five grandchildren, Ashley Crawford of Buffalo, N.Y., Jaclyn (Thomas) Trujillo of Walnut, Bradley (Frani) Crawford of Walnut, Amanda (Jason) Hasbrook of Wyanet and Samantha Crawford of North Carolina; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Judith Rathford of Georgia; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Larry Tyler; one sister, Virginia Harger; and one daughter, Janet S. Crawford.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton. A prayer service will follow the visitation with the Rev. Brian Moore officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Peoria office, at 614 W. Glen Ave., Peoria, IL 61614.
Dearest family members: What a wonderful tribute to Joyce in the two videos … such wonderful memories we have of her… you captured so many of her passions …. and even a picture of Aunt Charlotte in one of them! Debra called me last night to let me know … so glad that she did. Bob and Rosie, you have been so much wonderful support for her!! Ray, 65+ years is such a wonderful witness to the sanctity of marriage!! I remember your wedding and we remember all the wonderful times we had together thru the years!!
