Joseph Alvey

Joseph Carroll Alvey, 82, of Mammoth Spring, AR, died Sunday, August 29, 2021, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, IL.
Joseph was born March 19, 1939 in Union County, KY, to Charles Henry and Emma Sue Girten Alvey.
He married Barbara Plauck (LaForce). He later remarried to Celia Acain on October 8, 2005.
He is survived by four daughters, Angel (Mark) Allen of Crystal Lake, IL, Carol (William) Behrens of Islip, NY, Barb (David) Sherbeyn of Moline, IL, Erin (Bill) Liming of Gridley, IL; three brothers, James Alvey of LeRoy, IL, Jerry Alvey of Apache Junction, AZ, Eddie Alvey of West Plaines, MO; two sisters, Nancy Peterson of OR, Mary Sue Mixon of CA; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Tommy; and one sister, Evelyn.
Joseph served in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1958-1960. He was a member of the American Legion in Arkansas. He was big into giving and sponsored children overseas. He was a truck driver and worked for GATX for most of his life. He also owned taverns.
Cremation has been accorded. Burial will be at a later date at Forest Hill Cemetery in Wyanet, IL, with military rites. Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home of El Paso is assisting family with arrangements.
