John O. Campbell, 86 of Lampe, Mo., passed away Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at his home. Born Dec. 14, 1929, in Streator to Reuben Howard and Lydia Marie Campbell, he married Patricia Louise Pryor in 1953. She died in 1982. He married Dorothy James and she preceded him in death. Surviving is his wife Judith of Lampe Mo.; two sisters; one sister-in-law and one brother-in-law; three sons, John (Carolyn-Dodie) Campbell, Jeff Campbell and Jim (Lori) Campbell; four grandchildren, Jason (Rosie), Jerad, Brian and Julie Campbell; and two great-grandchildren, Colin and Nicolas Campbell. John had a passion for his work at Jostens for 45 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a sergeant first class, decorated with Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Service Stars and numerous campaign ribbons. He was a member of the Elks BPOE #1461, American Legion, VFW, Boot Kickers Club and the Coast Guard Auxiliary, where he continued his passion for boating during his retirement while working at the marina, What''s up Dock. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton with Marcia Peddicord officiating. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Memorial Park, Princeton, with military rites accorded by Princeton American Legion Post 125. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to family of John O. Campbell.

    Very sorry to read of your Dad’s passing. He was a good man, and good Boss to work for. He was the only one I told I was quitting Josten’s and splitting from Princeton, asked him to tell nobody, and think he respected that silence. Had many Foremen I’ve worked under in the 3 other factories I’ve worked at, and he was not only the first, but he also set the standard on what a good Foreman is. Condolences to you and the rest of your family.

  2. Judy Al & Karen, Just wanted to send our thoughts and prayers for you all. I will never forget our 4th of July weekend with John and Judy when John said “even Al had fun” He had such a friendly spirit and will be missed.
