John D Cantwell

John Douglas Cantwell, 68, of Bradford died at noon Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at home. Born Jan. 27, 1941, to Roy and Bernice (Cade) Cantwell in Toulon, he married Bertha Ann Lucas June 12, 1965, in Wyoming, Ill. She died Feb. 25, 2000. Survivors include three daughters, Shelly (Patrick) DeSpain of Bradford, Trina (Daniel) DeRycke of Galva, and Lucinda (Brian) Forbes of Peoria; one son, Michael (Sara) Cantwell of Bradford; four grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; three brothers, Larry Cantwell of Bradford, Dennis (Mary) Cantwell of Bradford, and Roy Cantwell of Buda; five sisters, Mary (David) Jacobs of Peoria, Connie Felt of Kewanee, Janice (Richard) Pierce of Lakeview, Ark., Sally (Dean) Evans of Princeton, Phyllis (Earl) Smith of Kirkwood, and Karen Kelly of Bradford, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jeffrey Cantwell and Phillip Cantwell, in infancy; and one sister, Linda Cantwell, in infancy. He was employed at Cantwell Aluminum for 20 years and retired from LCN Door Closers in Princeton in 2005. He had worked at FMC Chemical in Wyoming, Ill., since 1965. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Bradford, Pastor Jeffery S. Patrick Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the Bradford Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Matt Weir, Elvis Weir, Randy Cade, Jimmy Mummert, Ron Begner and John W. Cantwell. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Bradford Rescue Squad
