Joan Faoro Keener, 78, of Princeton passed away at 3 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, at Colonial Healthcare and Rehabilitation Centre in Princeton. Born Oct. 19, 1937, in Canton to Sereno and Charlene Margaret (Ortman) Faoro, she married Wendell Richard Keener Aug. 17, 1962, in Kewanee. He died Dec. 24, 2010. She graduated from Knox College in Galesburg with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She retired in 2006 after teaching for 40 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Princeton, the Knox College Alumni Association, Phi Mu Sorority, a book club and a bridge club. Surviving are two sons, Richard B. Keener of Greenville, S.C., and Andrew (Elsie Stapf) Keener of St. Louis, Mo.; one daughter, Katherine Keener of Kenosha, Wis.; seven grandchildren, Marcella Keener, Jessica Keener, Michael Meyer, Rachel Meyer, Neil Meyer, Alaina Majkrzak and Althea Keener; one brother, George (Mary) Faoro of Fox Lake; and one sister, Mary (Tom) Tripiano of Sun River, Ore. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Charlie Faoro. Services will be at noon Saturday, Feb. 27, at the First United Methodist Church in Princeton with the Rev. Brian Gilbert officiating. Inurnment will be in Mt. Bloom Cemetery, Tiskilwa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Saturday at the church.
