Jesse W. Schroyer, 86, of Princeton, Illinois passed away at 12:40 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Aperion Care Nursing Home in Princeton.

 He was born February 15, 1935 in St. Francisville, IL the son of Jesse N. and Rhea (Ramsey) Schroyer.  

 Jesse married Shirley Brown on May 26, 1956 at the Free Methodist Church in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

She survives in Princeton.  

 He is also survived by three sons: Rick Schroyer of Elgin, IL, Kevin (Joy) of Noblesville, IN, and Doug (Renee) Schroyer of Schaumburg, Illinois; one daughter-in law, Sue Schroyer of Geneva, IL; eight grandchildren: Tiff Schroyer of Noblesville, IN, Becca Ann (Danny McNelis) Schroyer of Indianapolis, IN, Adam (Kathy) Schroyer of Carmel, IN, T.J. (Lindsey) Schroyer of Oswego, IL, Marissa Schroyer of Aurora, IL, Brittany Schroyer of Schaumburg, IL, Brandon Schroyer of Schaumburg, IL and Amber Jo Schroyer; and nieces and nephews. 

 He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Greg Schroyer, one brother, Howard Schroyer, and two sisters: Agnes Schroyer and Iona Potts.  

 Jesse graduated from St. Francisville High School with the Class of 1953.

 He worked for GTE Phone Company for 40 years.

 He was a member of the Optimist Club, and the Princeton Rotary Club, where he was a Past President. He was on the Bureau County Board and the Senior Center Board. He enjoyed pitching in soft ball and coached his sons in baseball. He also liked woodworking and attended the First United Methodist Church in Princeton.  

 Cremation rites will be accorded and a private graveside service will be held at Oakland Cemetery, Princeton. A celebration of Jesse's life will be announced at a later time. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church, Princeton, the Bureau County Senior Center, or Second Story Teen Center in his memory.   2. Jesse was a kind man. Randy and I always loved stopping in occasionally to visit Jesse and Shirley. We remember him well sitting on those softball bleachers in Princeton. God bless your family in this loss. We will be praying for you.

  8. Shirley I am so sadden to hear about Jessie’s passing. I have so enjoyed getting to know the both of you over the years as my customers from Sullivans Deli to my now job at Kohls.
    Jessie would make my day everytime he made the effort to stop and say Hello to me while I would be working. I sure will miss his warm smile and his question of the day, “Are you behaving today?” And my reply, “No fun if I was.”
