Jay Lyman Yarrington,56, born on November 24, 1967 in Harvey, IL unexpectedly passed away June 12, 2024 at El Paso Health Care in El Paso, IL.
Jay was a 1986 graduate from Hall High School. He worked for many years at Harper Wyman and LTV Steel. Jay served as a 3rd Degree Master Mason with Princeton Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Bureau Congregational Church. Jay enjoyed traveling to casinos and playing the slot machines with his lifelong friend Tim Charles. He was a religious watcher of the TV show Price Is Right. Jay loved listening to music, specifically Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. He was a huge fan of the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs.
Jay never missed a sporting event for his nephew, Cody and niece, Alyssa. He loved supporting them and watching them grow into the adults they now are. He also had an immense amount of love for his great nephews, Easton and Layton Salazar. Who visited him frequently at El Paso Heath Care.
Jay is survived by his mother, Alice Yarrington of Princeton; one sister, Amy (Yarrington) Boers (Scott) of Hollowayville; nephew Cody Boers (Kylea) of Ladd; niece Alyssa Boers (Lucas) of Bureau; two very special cousins, Jennifer (Nick) Crocker of Joliet, Robin (Daniel) Davis of Kankakee and two great-nephews, Easton and Layton Salazar of Bureau.
He is proceeded in death by his father Jerry Yarrington and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
A visitation will be from 10:00am until time of memorial service at 11:00am on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Bonnie Micheletti, officiating. In honor of Jay if you are able to the family would request you to come wearing either your Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs or Elvis Presley attire. Burial of cremated remains will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Bureau. A luncheon will be held at the Bureau Congregational Church immediately following the burial. Dishes to pass can be dropped off prior to services.
Memorials may be directed to the family and will be dispersed at a later date to Bureau Congregational Church or Charity.
