Janice M. Seeds, a resident of Princeton, formerly of Kewanee and Naperville, died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Colonial Hall Care Center in Princeton. Jan was a 44-year victim of the long term dehabilitating effects of rheumatoid arthritis. She was born Feb. 4, 1930, in Kewanee, the daughter of Cecil and Dorothy (Cummings) Milburn. She was a 1948 graduate of Kewanee High School. Later, she attended Western Illinois University. majoring in kindergarten primary education. At Western, she was active on campus as a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority. During her career, she was a dedicated leader and participant in community theater in the western suburbs of Chicago in the 1950s. Jan was a skilled threater make-up artist, a service she provided to local theatre groups even in recent years. She also loved fashion and was an avid seamstress as long as she was able. In Princeton, she was a member of the Woman''s Club and a constant bridge enthusiast. Jan is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Arthur W. "Art" Seeds; her son, Scott Seeds of Downers Grove and her daughter, Karen (John) Marshall of Naperville; her brother, Wayne Milburn of Coos Bay, Ore.; three grandchildren, Heather (Daniel) Gray, Hillard (Greg) Leeper, and Natalie (Paul) Bellmore and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Joyce Lumpp. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the New Hope Church of The Nazarene, Princeton, with the Rev. Laura Root, senior pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery, Neponset at 1:45 p.m. Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials may be directed to New Hope Church of The Nazarene, 30 N. Sixth St., Princeton, IL 61356.
