June 22, 1954 ~ September 9, 2016
Janice Marie Canale, 62, of Princeton, formerly of Broadview, passed away Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 22, 1954, in Chicago, the daughter of Lawrence T. and Valaria M. (Lasecke) Canale, who preceded her in death. Janice is the beloved sister of Donna (Richard) Milliron of Princeton and Michael Canale of Princeton; cherish aunt to Tracy (Nathan) Headley of Buda, Kristy (Scott Hill) Wray of Wyanet, Lauren (Daniel) Mavity of Spring Valley and Matthew (Lindsey) Canale of McHenry; and loving great-aunt to Myah Headley, Mason Headley, Preston Milliron, Brandon Wray, Lillian Wray, Taryn Hill, Emma Mavity, Adalyn Mavity, Jaxon Canale and Aria Canale. She is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and her best friend, Clif Barker, who will all miss her sweet smile and special laugh. Through the years, she loved spending time with (and spoiling) the many children in her family, providing them with some great fun-filled memories. Her hobbies included painting ceramics, jigsaw puzzles and baking. All will miss her huge platters of cookies and lemon cheesecake. Janice enjoyed living at the High Rise, where she made many friends. She loved to walk where ever she went and always wished she "could walk around the world." In her memory, the family will be sponsoring a tree along Main Street, the street she loved to walk. Janice was an active member of St. Louis Catholic Church and volunteered with church cleaning and vacation Bible school. As a child, Janice was a patient of Shriner''s Hospital and has always had a soft spot in her heart for disabled children. Memorial donations received will be presented to Shriner''s Hospital for Children, Chicago, in Janice''s name. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton with Father Jeffrey Stirniman as celebrant. Interment will bein Oakland Cemetery in Princeton, followed by a balloon release in celebration of her life. Afterward the family invites everyone to join them for a luncheon at St. Louis Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at the Grant- Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton. Her family thanks all who offered their support, prayed for her, visited her and helped with her care. She was truly loved and will never be forgotten. (Got that Jan... you''re "Unforgettable").
Love you Aunt Janice!!!
Such a gentle, sweet soul. She always made a point to come and visit the office on the days she worked in the re-sale shop at St. Eulalia. We loved to have a good laugh and tease each other. RIP dear Janice.
What a beautiful tribute to a beautiful soul.
How can a sister put a lifetime in a paragraph? I can’t. But, I can say the last month’s with you have taught me so much about you and about myself. You taught me about your faith, hope and strength. You taught me about your love, compassion and generosity. I learned these things from you Dear Sister. And hopefully as I go forward, I’ll carry these things with me; and a little part of you will live in me. May God Bless you as you now walk freely with the Lord. You are my “Hero” and “Best Sister Ever.” (Right Janice?)
Our condolences to Tracy and her family. May you all find peace and comfort during your time of loss.
