James Russell, 67, passed away of cancer on Wednesday, October 21st, at his home in Bradford, IL.

James (Jim, “Beanie”, “Bean Dog”) was born March 19, 1953 in Princeton, IL, the son of O’Donnell and Mary Miller Russell.

He is survived by his sisters Kathy (Bob) McMullen, Glendale, AZ,  Donna Gannon, Normal, IL,  Jeanne Coleman, Bradford, Barbi (Larry) Linden, rural Bradford and Marilyn Masterson, Camp Grove,IL; Nephews Billy Coleman, Bradford,  Scott Coleman, Toluca, IL,  Jason Dewey, Phoenix, AZ,  Chad Dewey, Peoria, IL,  Jonathan Gannon, Scottsdale, AZ,  and Luke (Carolyn) Masterson, Sparland, IL;  Nieces Kelly (Tim) Boyte, Omaha, NE,  Erynn McMullen,  Phoenix, AZ,  Amy (Luke) Hawkins, Kewanee, IL, Katie (Glen) Wilson, South Elgin, IL, and Abby Masterson,  Peoria, IL.

He is also survived by his “other  family” at his favorite uptown bar, MY PLACE, where he enjoyed watching many a Jeopardy game and drinking many a beer with his friends.

Jimmy graduated from Bradford High School in 1971 and retired from Caterpillar in 2016 after working for 40 years.

Jimmy enjoyed all sports and was a big Cubs and Notre Dame fan. While in the hospital he and his sister enjoyed watching the Bears win and the Packers lose. YAY!!  He loved music and was a longtime Grateful Dead fan and saw Paul McCartney in concert at Wrigley Field.  He loved to do crossword puzzles and that was the main reason he bought a newspaper.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marge Dewey, nephew Benjamin Gannon and brother-in-law Bill Coleman.

Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital or St. John’s Catholic Church in Bradford.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial Mass will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bradford on Saturday, November 7th at 11am with a visitation from 10am-11am prior to the service. Online condolences may be sent to www.grant-johnsonfh.com.
