James "Jim" Bogner

James “Jim” L. Bogner, 89, of Bradford, Illinois passed away July 28, 2017 peacefully at Bickford Cottage in Davenport, Iowa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John''s the Baptist Catholic Church, Bradford with Father John Cyr, officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. A rosary service will be held at 8:30 a.m. before visitation. Burial will take place in St. John''s Catholic Cemetery in Bradford. Military rites will be accorded by the Bradford American Legion Post 445. Jim was born February 16, 1928 in Sparland, Illinois the son of Conrad and Lena (Frey) Bogner. He married Barbara Holler on February 20, 1954 in Lacon, Illinois. She survives in Davenport, IA. Also surviving are 3 children: Bob (Annetta) Bogner of Bettendorf, IA, Mary Ann Sharp of Moline, IL and Beth (George) Griffin of Dunlap, IL; 8 grandchildren: Matthew Gladfelter, Will and Savannah Bogner, Sarah Perez, Matthew and Derick Colvin, Kalie Griffin, and Molly Sharp; 3 brothers: Lee (Irene) Bogner, Eugene (Carolyn) Bogner, and Richard (Yvonne) Bogner and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Marian Nauman and his son, Edward Bogner. He graduated from Sparland High School. Jim served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired in 1998 from his lifelong passion of farming in Bradford. He was a past Commander of the Bradford American Legion Post 445, a member of the Bradford Lions Club and an active member of St. John''s the Baptist Catholic Church. Condolences to Barbara and Jim’s family. We have done a monthly karaoke show at Courtyard for many years. Jim and Barbara were such fun and enjoyed singing with us. We missed them so much when they moved.
My condolences sent for the family. Jim was a good man. I had the privilege of taking care of him and his wife. My thoughts for Barb and her son Bob. May God wrap you in his arms during this time of need.

Sending prayers at this difficult time. Jim was a wonderful loving man. I was a cook when he stayed in Bradford.he always thanked me for the meal and complimented always so grateful. Sorry for your loss Barb and Bob.
