James Everett Layton

James Everett Layton, 70, of Princeton died at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at Orchard View Nursing Home where he lived for eight years. Born Oct. 10, 1938, in Alton to Everett and Doris Marie (Baker) Layton, he married Mary Lou Hauversburk May 7, 1960, in Godfrey. She survives. He worked in field tiling, retiring in 1997 from Mike Gibson Farm Drainage. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Princeton and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Also surviving are his mother; three children, Tracy (David) Morrasy of McNabb, Allen (Kathy) Layton of Kasbeer and Misty (fiance Daniel Davis) Layton of Ohio; eight grandchildren, Brittany (fiance Ryan Buettner) Morrasy, Joshua Morrasy, Stephanie (Mathew) Galassi, Ashley Layton, Christopher Layton, Bradley Davis, Meghan Davis and Katie Beth Davis; and two brothers, David (Janet) Crawford of Jerseyville and Donald (Carolyn Sue) Crawford of Brighton. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Richard Crawford. Services will be at 6 p.m. Monday at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton, with Pastor Doug Sopher officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday. Memorials may be directed to the Men''s Bowling Association, Junior Bowlers Association or the donor''s choice.
