Jacquelyn "Jacki" Berkes, 70, of Henry, Illinois passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at OSF St. Clare Medical Center.
She was born December 31, 1951 in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of William and Nancy (Caudill) Johnson.
Jacki married Robert Wenzel August 28, 2010 in Forest Park, Illinois. He survives in Henry.
She is also survived by two children: Tara De Koning-Johnson of Australia and Jake (Esther) Berkes of Hanover Park, Illinois; four grandchildren: Hayley Jane, Nathan, Seth, and Roland; one brother: Robert (Sandy) Johnson of Freeport, Illinois; three sisters: Michele (Clifford Killion) Johnson of Rockford, Illinois, Terry (Jeffrey) Myers of Lebanon, Missouri, and Sheralee Gardner of San Diego, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter: Danielle Berkes; two brothers: Pete and Gary Johnson.
Jacki graduated from the School of Nursing at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois.
She practiced nursing up until her retirement in February 2022.
She was an avid Jeopardy player and crossword puzzle solver.
A visitation will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton, Illinois. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2022 at the funeral home following the visitation. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association in Jacki's memory. Jacki, we will miss you more than you know! I am keeping comfort by picturing you with all those we have lost —. Mom, dad, your beloved Danielle, Pete, Gary, Doreen…. I can picture you all sitting around a table enjoying some good food and great wine. And most of all laughing. I love you and miss you, but am so happy you are no longer in pain. Until we meet again.
