Howard Leroy Drawyer

Howard Leroy Drawyer, 84, of Buda passed away at 7:45 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2016 at Perry Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. Howard was born June 7, 1932, in Bradford, as the son of Carson and Berta (McKeever) Drawyer. He married Elora (Burt) Drawyer October 7, 1956, in Castleton. She survives. He attended Buda schools and graduated in 1950. He assisted his father with farming. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served as a corporal during the Korean War. He served from October 1952 through October 1954, when he was honorably discharged. He is a member of the American Legion. After discharge, he married and started farming. Additionally, he became a long- distance truck driver until the mid- 1970''s, when he became a full time farmer. In the late 1980''s, he semi- retired and performed custom work for other farmers. Also surviving are his three children: Kimberly (Brian) Horton of Washington, Illinois, Timothy Drawyer of Plymouth, Indiana and June (Edward) Johnson of Mundelein, Illinois; three grandchildren: Jennifer (Kevin) Lawson of Peoria, Illinois, Rebecca Horton (Justin Baugh) of Blue Grass, Iowa and Stephanie Kessel (Michael Pressy) of Ohio, Illinois; two great- grandchildren: Lexis and Gabriella; two sisters: Mae Noll of Kewanee and Joyce Wallace of Buda and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be Saturday July 2, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Grant- Johnson Funeral Home, Bradford with Pastor Wendy Popp, officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday July 1, 2016 at Grant- Johnson Funeral Home, Bradford. Burial will take place in Bradford Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by the Buda American Legion #261. Pallbearers will be Jeff Samp, Justin Baugh, Kevin Lawson, Jon Best, Kevin Noll and Michael Pressy . Memorials may be directed to the Buda Rescue Unit or donor''s choice in his memory.
