Herbert G. Zurliene

Herbert G. Zurliene, 80, of Princeton, Illinois passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a service will be held at later date.
He was born September 4, 1940 in Princeton, Illinois the son of John and Frances (Richter) Zurliene.
Herb married the love of his life, Sue Cook on November 9, 1968 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton. The shared 52 years together. She survives in Princeton.
Also surviving is their daughter: Tammy Hill of Princeton, Illinois: four grandchildren: Dallas, Aarystyn, Alyvia, and Avabelle; three siblings: John (Ellen) Zurliene of Nashville, TN, Loraine McMahon of Princeton, and Doris Lewis of Princeton; two sisters- in law, Avis Zurliene of Arizona, and Patricia Zurliene of Princeton; one brother-in law: Lavern (Linda) Cook of Rock Falls, IL; numerous nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Buttercup.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, Robert, three brothers: Urban, Pete, and Jerry Zurliene; three sisters: Pat Blumhorst, Alice Dinkelman, and Dolores Schafer; and one sister- in law, Sally Lyle.
Herb worked at the Princeton Park district before enlisting in the United States Army. Which he proudly served for 2 years active duty and 5 years of reserve.
He worked various jobs including Kory Farm Equipment. He retired from the Princeton Park District and was also a lifelong farmer.
Herb was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church, AMVETS, and the Army Historical Foundation. He joined family and friends for coffee at the old McDonalds and later at the Burger King. Herb enjoyed farming, taking rides, and mowing. Most of all he liked spending time with his grandchildren and family.
