Grant  William Andresen, 83, passed away on February 10, 2023, at Friendship Manor in Rock Island, IL. 

He was born in Charlotte, Iowa on April 22, 1939 to parents, Marvin  and Thelma (Deletzke) Andresen.  Grant attended Clinton County schools.

Grant was preceded in death by his parents. He also lost his brothers, Wayne Andresen,  Robert Andresen and Allan Andresen,  along with his sister, Margo Andresen. 

He is survived by 8 nieces and nephews, 19 great nieces and nephews, and his special friend, Rose. 

Grant received his Bachelor's Degree in Education at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL.  He received his Master's Degree in Education at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA.   He enjoyed  many years of teaching coaching, and working with the students in music and theatre at Manlius High School and the incorporated Bureau Valley High School.  He served as an elected member of the Bureau County Board.  Grant was a staunch Augie supporter and never missed a game.  He was active in a number of Augustana alumni organizations.

Cremation rites will be accorded.  A visitation will be held from 10:00am to 11:00 and a Memorial Service at 11:00am, on Monday, March 6, 2023, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Kewanee by the Reverend Father Burnell F. Eckardt, Jr.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Kewanee.

  1. Thoughts and prayers to the family. Mr Andresen was always a wonderful teacher and made learning interesting. He was always one of my favorites.

  2. I have been planning to come to the funeral service today but I am not feeling well. Grant came to Manlius when I was in 7th grade. He quickly became my favorite teacher and coach. We have remained friends as I would see him from time to time. I remember so many fun things. Grant was an absolute gift to Manlius. Thank you, dear Lord, for Grant Andresen.
