Gloria Ann (Dabler) Hansen, 81, of Princeton, IL passed away Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Perry Memorial Hospital with her family at her bedside. Gloria was born August 30, 1935 in Concord Township, Wyanet, IL. To Earl and Clara (Stonewall) Dabler. She graduated from Wyanet High School in 1953, where she was a scholar actively involved in chorus, newspaper, yearbook staff, and FHA. She met her husband of 63 ¾ years, Charles Russell “Russ” Hansen through a mutual friend of a cousin on a blind date and they were married ten months later on December 31, 1952 in the parsonage next to the Manlius Baptist Church. He died September 29, 2016. Also preceding her in death are her parents, and two sisters and their spouses: Joyce and Ray Righthouse and Marjorie and Virden Heuer. She is survived by her son Steve (Heidi) Hansen of Princeton and her daughter, Vicki (Dave) Stuart of Peru. There are four grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren: Brock (Charmaine) Hansen of Princeton with great-granddaughters, Gracelynn and Piper; Matt (Kate) Anson of Edwardsville with great- grandchildren, Gwen, Thomas and Eva; Amanda Cox of Princeton with great – grandson, Grady; Adam (Allison) Anson of Minonk with great- grandsons, Lucas and Noah, and also surviving are many nieces and nephews and her brother, Robert “Bob” Dabler of LaSalle, IL. Gloria was a retired beautician of forty years. She attended LaSalle School of Cosmetology and in 1971 had a shop in her home in Malden and then in Princeton. She was a past member of the Red Covered Bridge Hairdressers and Home Extension. She served on several church committees, church boards, PADS in Peru, several church activities both in Malden and Princeton. She was a present member of the First United Methodist Church of Princeton and the United Methodist Women. Gloria was dedicated and devoted to her family. She enjoyed playing cards, square-dancing, camping, gardening, and canning her bountiful harvest. She loved sewing and crocheting for her kids, grandkids, and great- grandkids and friends. She was an avid lover of garage sales and liked having her own. A celebration of Gloria and Russ'' life together will be held Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in Princeton, IL. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. followed by the Memorial Service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Brian Gilbert and neighbor Pastor Doug Kirkpatrick, officiating. Memorials may be given to the local food Pantry of Spring Valley Hospice. Cremation rites were accorded. Burial of ashes will be at a later date at Elm Lawn Memorial Park.   1. So so sorry to hear the news of Gloria’s passing. She always meant so much to my Grandmother when she lived with us. She was a wonderful person and will be missed.
