Glen LeRoy Thomas of Bradford passed away Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, at the Toulon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Toulon. Glen was born April 4, 1922, in Bureau County, the son of Roy and Anna Marie (Anderson) Thomas. He married Elaine Dennison on Sept. 8, 1945, in Princeton. Survivors include his two daughters, Sheila (Tom) McMahill and Nona Thomas of Bradford; his grandchildren, Kathy (Mitch) Colgan of Bradford, Sean McMahill of Brooklyn, N.Y., Erin McMahill of Evanston and Chris Thomas of Denver, Colo.; his great-grandchildren, Zach and Chelsea Colgan of Bradford; and his sisters, Eldora (Dode) Swearingen and Marlo (Mollie) Clausen of Princeton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine, on April 21, 2009; his parents; an infant sister, Dorothy Marie; and two brothers, Harold (Pood) of Princeton and Henry (Hank) of Bellevue, Ohio. Glen worked for several years as a welder at Hotchkiss manufacturing. In the mid 60s he went to work at Caterpillar in Mossville and retired from there in 1987. Glen loved his wife and family, but the outdoors was his passion. His spare time was spent fishing and hunting. He raised coon hounds, fox hounds and rabbit hounds. He spent hours just listening to the sound of his hounds as they pursued a hot track. In later years he found more joy in the chase than the hunt. He also enjoyed gardening and took pride in maintaining a nice looking garden. Glen was a member of the Allendale Conservation Club and the Chillicothe Sportsman Club. He enjoyed trap shooting and shot for several years in a league in Kewanee. Family graveside services will be held at a future date in the Osceola Cemetery. The Grant-Johnson Funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Bradford Rescue Squad or Toulon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
