Gerald Wayne Buckman Sr., 61, of Buda died at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010, at his home. Born Oct. 3, 1948, in Morganfield, Ky., to John Henry and Betty Jean (Blanford) Buckman, he married Vicki J. Stanard Aug. 13, 1970, in Princeton. She survives. He was a graduate of Western High School in Buda. He had been a law enforcement officer and was an over-the-road truck driver for AR Transport in Joliet. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of St. Patrick''s Catholic Church in Sheffield. Also surviving are two sons, Mark (Brooke) Bailey of Atkinson and Gerald Buckman Jr. of Buda; one daughter, Tara Pond of Buda; 11 brothers, Marvin (Ruthie) Buckman, Thomas (Carol) Buckman, Charlie (Deb) Buckman, Kevin Joseph (Crystal) Buckman, Mark Buckman of Buda and Michael (Deonna) Buckman, all of Buda, Francis (Scherry) Buckman of Wyanet, Ronald Buckman of Indiana, Donald Lee (Michelle) Buckman of Calhoun, Ky., Darrell Buckman of Jacksonville, Fla., and Ernest Buckman of Newport News, Va.; two sisters, Theresa (Jim Barringer) Zimmer of Wyanet and Pam Lafferty of Buda; and six grandchildren, Caleb, Jared, Elizabeth, Preslie, Isaac and Bella. He was preceded in death by his father; three sisters, Peggy Buckman, Mary DeWaelle and Judy Scott; and two nephews, Dylan Buckman and Steven DeWaelle. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton. Burial will be in St. Patrick''s Catholic Cemetery, Sheffield. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family. Pallbearers: Chad Buckman, Todd Buckman, Corey Buckman, Andrew Scott, Daniel Zimmer and Aaron Buckman. Honorary pallbearers: Christopher DeWaelle, Austin Buckman, Tristan Buckman, Blake Lewis, Christopher Dixon and Jonathan Carroll.
