Gerald C. Van De Genachte, 83, of Princeton, Illinois passed away at 6:52 a.m. Thursday, September 30, 2021 at OSF St. Clare Medical Center Princeton, Illinois.
Gerald was born August 22, 1938 in Kewanee, Illinois the son of Morris and Emma (Tillie) Van De Genachte.
He married Sandra Drawyer on June 1, 1963. She survives in Geneseo, Illinois.
He is also survived by his two daughters: Lisa (Glen) Erickson of Ashton, Illinois and Tina (Tom) Burns of Princeton, Illinois; four grandchildren: Patrick and Katie Erickson and Sara and Emily Burns; and two great-grandchildren: Killean and Josephine.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Carolyn Kopp.
He graduated from Buda High School with the Class of 1956.
Gerald worked at LTV Steel for over 30 years, retiring in 2001.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed golfing and was a Chicago Bears fan. Most of all he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gerald served in the United States Army.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2021 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Sheffield, Illinois with Deacon John Murphy, officiating. My deepest sympathies to Sandi and family! I thoroughly enjoyed bantering with Gerald and playing golf with him in Sheffield when I lived in Buda! You are in my thoughts and prayers Sandi.
