George Twidell

George Twidell, 88, of Princeton died at 2:08 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at Kewanee Care Nursing Home in Kewanee. Born July 4, 1927, in rural Manlius, Manlius Township, to Thomas and Lillie (Jorgensen) Twidell, he married Margaret Ellen Krager April 8, 1950, in Manlius, She survives. He was a farmer in the Bureau Township area for 40 years. He was owner and operator of G & M Lawn and Ranch Vinyl Fencing Company from 1992 to 1999. He was an avid craftsman in the art of woodworking. He loved traveling and meeting people. He was very active in the First Baptist Church of Manlius, serving as a deacon for 52 years. Most of that time he served as a trustee and was appointed in charge of the cemetery. He did mowing and upkeep of the cemetery and church property until 2010. Also surviving are two sons, David (Ann) Twidell of Conroe, Texas, and Allen (Jodi) Twidell of Walnut; two daughters, Kay (Greg) Dabler of Wyanet and Lois (Mitchell) Ebanks of Houston, Texas; one daughter-in-law, Mary Lee Twidell of Princeton; 12 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Alberta Miller; one son James Thomas Twidell; son-in-law Leslie Neahring and two granddaughters, Bridgette Ann Twidell and Holly Marie Neahring. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 13, at the First Baptist Church of Manlius with the Rev. Robert Allen officiating. Burial will be in the First Baptist Church cemetery in Manlius. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 12, at the church. Memorials may be directed to the cemetery of the First Baptist Church of Manlius.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Unfortunately I am not able to attend the services. I have so many great memories from summer days working for George. He was always glad to see you with a hand shake and smile. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

George was a Great kind man. The world needs more men like George. He will be remembered. So sorry for the families loss. So sorry that’s he gone.
