George A DeLong

George A. DeLong, 92, of 200 N. 3rd St., Wyoming, Ill., passed away Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at Farmington Country Manor in Farmington, Ill. George was born in rural Stark County, Ill., on July 20, 1920, to Arthur "Pete" and Clara Elizabeth (Colwell) DeLong. He married Marcella Evans on March 7, 1942, in Kahokia, Mo. She passed away on Feb. 28, 2007. George graduated from Wyoming High School in 1938. He retired in 1982 from WABCO in Peoria after 40 years of service, last working as a Time Study Engineer. Surviving are two daughters, Sandra (Dale) Rachel of Brimfield, Ill., and Jacqueline (Joe) Rachel of Florissant, Mo.; five grandchildren, Jeff (Betsy) Rachel, Joe (Lisa) Rachel and Jennifer (Jeff) Keim, all of Florissant, Mo., Susie (Rob) Baker of Mahomet, Ill., and Stacy Rachel of Honolulu, Hawaii; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jack DeLong of Peoria. George was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Reitus and Art DeLong; and his sister, Mabel Hayward. Graveside services will be Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at Wyoming Cemetery in Wyoming, Ill., at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Joe Ballard officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer''s Association of Central Illinois or to the Wyoming Rescue Squad.
