Francis “Stormy” Day, 94, of Wyanet died at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018, at Liberty Village in Princeton.

He was born Oct. 12, 1923, in Wyoming, Ill., the son of Jeremiah and Helen (Gorman) Day. He married Lois Oloffson on April 5, 1958, in Wyanet. She preceded him in death on May 14, 2014.

Stormy served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippines. He worked for Illinois Power Co. as a lineman and foreman.

He was a charter member of the Wyanet V.F.W. Post 6634 for 70 years and he was the drummer in the “Rhythm Kings.”

Surviving are three sons, Steven “Bingo” (Jane) Day of Wyanet, Larry (Joan McQuinn) Griffin of Rockford and Jeff (Janet) Day of Wyanet; one daughter, Vicki (Jim) Ross of Princeton; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his his parents; two brothers, Bill and Jack; two sisters, Hazel and Vernice; and one niece, Patty.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton with Deacon John Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Wyanet, with military rites conducted by Wyanet V.F.W. Post 6634 and Princeton American Legion Post 125.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, at the funeral home.
