Forrest "Frosty" Schuneman

Forrest Charles “Frosty” Schuneman passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from complications of cardiovascular disease and cancer. Born in Manlius, Illinois on July 24, 1944, Frosty was the oldest of seven children born to Ben and Byrdena Schuneman. Frosty grew up in Illinois and received a bachelor''s degree in English from Illinois State University. He married Karen Anderson in 1965 and is the father of two children, Kami Schuneman Haynes and Trent Schuneman. Frosty worked for IBM for 30 years in sales. In 1984, he married Julie Adams. Frosty was an avid reader – he was known to finish books in hours, not days. He had a number of hobbies over the years, from ham radio to scroll saw art to computer gaming, and he embraced each hobby with fascination and focus. He grew up on a farm, where he learned the value of hard work and determination, and he carried that work ethic into everything he did, whether it was selling typewriters, driving the train at the Jacksonville Zoo, or manning the volunteer desk at Mayo Clinic. Frosty was always known for his stories and jokes, and everyone who knew him expected a smile and a new story from him. While he''d often joke that he liked dogs more than people, there was probably some truth in that statement. He always had a soft spot for a stray or a puppy, bringing home countless dogs over the years. Frosty is survived by his wife Julie; daughter Kami, son-in-law Ian, and grandson Mason; son Trent, daughter-in-law Rebekah and grandchildren Parker, Katelyn and Abby; brother-in-law Bill and wife Stephanie and their daughter Lasa and her husband Scott; brother-in-law CT; as well as his dogs Hudson, Sprocket and Lucky. Also surviving are Frosty''s mother, Byrdena Schuneman-Baugh; and five siblings: Chris (Debbie) Schuneman; Bernie (Nancy) Schuneman; Mary (Gary) Reed; Lorna (Don) Code; and Brian (Andrea) Schuneman. He was preceded in death by his father, Ben Schuneman, and his brother Steve Schuneman. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July, 28, 2018 at the Bunker Hill Church in Buda, Illinois. at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
