PRINCETON — Everett J. Carter, 93, of Princeton died at 12:54 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton with his family surrounding him. Born Jan. 27, 1922, in Walnut to James and Eliza Carter, he married Shirley A. Feurer April 12, 1947, in Malden. She survives. He was a 1940 graduate of Princeton High School. He was a lifetime farmer and worked at Pioneer Seed Company in Princeton. He was a former Princeton Lion, a member of the Princeton Elks Lodge, a St. Matthew''s Lutheran Church board member for two terms, and a member of the Bureau County Zoning Board and Bureau County Farm Bureau. Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Lisle Jr.) Vaughn of Dallas, Texas, and Linda Bracken of Hazel Crest; one son, James (Linda) Carter of Princeton; five grandchildren, Todd Vaughn of Lahaina, Hawaii, Amy (Jeffrey) Johnson of Dallas, Texas, E,J. (Dana Katz) Carter of Portland, Ore., Deana (Nadim Amiry) Bracken of Los Angeles, Calif., and Andrew (Nicole) Carter of Oak Park; and five great-grandchildren, Maddie, Simon, Dylan, James and Wesley. He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters and two brothers. Everett Carter had a lasting impact on both his family and the community. His kindness, loyalty and unforgettable sense of humor will be dearly missed by all that knew him. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, at St. Matthew''s Lutheran Church in Princeton with the Rev. Scott Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Princeton. Pallbearers will be Irvin Gustafson, Todd Vaughn, Michael Harris, E.J. Carter, Andrew Carter and Nadim Amiry. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 13, at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton. Memorials may be directed to Gateway Services in Princeton.
