Esther S. Winslow, 97, of Buda died at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Liberty Village of Princeton. Born May 22, 1914, in Sheffield to Paul and Clarisse (VanMeulebroeck) Standard, she married Franklin W. Winslow in Rockford in February 1931. He died in 1985. Surviving are one son, Donald (Carolyn) Winslow of Ottawa; two grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 18 stepgreat-grandchildren; one special niece, Dorothy Runft of Sheffield; one special nephew, Ray DeMay; and several nieces, nephews and cousins in Belgium. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert and Peter; one sister, Mary DeMay; and a special friend, Russell Stroud. She attended Sheffield High School. She was the owner and operator of Winslow Grocery in Sheffield. She also worked for Kraft Foods in Manlius, retiring in 1979. She was a former member of the United Methodist Church in Buda and attended the United Church of Christ in Sheffield. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday the United Church of Christ, Sheffield, with the Rev. Jane Courtright officiating. Burial will be in the Sheffield Cemetery, Sheffield. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton, and one hour prior to the services at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Buda or Sheffield rescue units or the donor''s choice.
