Elta Berneice McCoy

E. Berneice McCoy, 96, of rural Walnut passed away at 6:35 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Colonial Hall Rehab and Nursing Center in Princeton. Born July 19, 1916, in Walnut to Bud and Goldie (Case) Williams, she married Garland Tillman "Shorty" McCoy Aug. 21, 1942, in Kirksville, Mo. He died Jan. 20, 2004. Surviving are two sons, Gerald (Cheryl) McCoy of Sheffield and Buddy McCoy of Sheffield; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents. A homemaker, she was a member of Royal Neighbors in Thomas, Bureau County Home Extension, Manlius Senior Citizens, card club and War Mothers of New Bedford. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Manlius, with Pastor Willy Minnix officiating. Burial will be in the Sheffield Cemetery, Sheffield. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Manlius Fire Department and Manlius Rescue.
