Elizabeth “Lib” L. Naffziger, 90, of Walnut, IL, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL surrounded by loved ones.

Lib was born on November 18, 1933 in Dallas, NC, the daughter of Richard and Alma (Whitesides) Long. She attended Wingate University on a basketball scholarship, received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Winthrop University, and graduated from Appalachian State University with her Master’s in English. She moved to Princeton shortly after graduation to teach at Princeton High School. Lib met Phillip Naffziger in Princeton and they married on August 17, 1958 in Charlotte, NC. They have four children:  Susan, Paula, Bill and Beth. After raising her children Lib went back to school at the age of 50 and became a Certified Public Account. She worked as an accountant for Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon for 18 years prior to her retirement. Lib was an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Princeton and her IH chapter of PEO International. Lib enjoyed an active life with many interests, including skiing, bridge, gardening and cooking for her family. Most of all she cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren and attended soccer, football, softball games and music concerts at every opportunity.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Phillip Naffziger of Walnut; four children, Susan Quattrochi of Okatie, SC, Paula (Ron) Hoerner of Barrington, IL, Bill Naffziger of Princeton and Beth Christian of Fort Wayne, IN; eight grandchildren, Nathan (Anna) Quattrochi, Sarah Quattrochi, Madeline Hoerner, Monica (Justin) Keller, Daniel Naffziger, Frankie Christian, Phillip Christian and Libby Christian;  one great grandchild, Olivia Quattrochi, and two siblings, James (Tom) Long and Mary Nell Stafford.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers: Kenneth, Otto, Claude (Buck) and Dalton Long.

Visitation will be from 10:00am until time of memorial service at 11:00am on Saturday, July, 13, 2024 at Evangelical Covenant Church in Princeton with Pastor Derek Boggs officiating. Burial of cremated remains will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Princeton. Cremation Rites have been accorded.

The family requests that a memorial be sent in lieu of flowers.  Memorials may be directed to the Evangelical Covenant Church in Princeton or to the PEO Program for Continuing Education (PCE) by calling PEO International at (515) 255-3153.
