Doyle B. Johnston, 68, died on October 24, 2022 in Wyanet, Illinois. Doyle was born on March 6, 1954 to Gerald and Doris (McMeen) Johnston in Kewanee. Doyle graduated from Bradford High School in 1973. He married Linda (Towne) Johnston on April 30, 1976. He worked as the head of maintenance at Wyanet Grade School and then Bureau Valley High School in Manlius for 33 years altogther. He was a volunteer driver for Wyanet EMS for 23 years. Doyle was also a social member of the V.F.W.

            Doyle is survived by his wife Linda and their two children Jennifer (Brent) Muxfeld of Henry, Il. and Jared (Katie) Johnston of  Minier; Il., 7 grandchildren: Marshall and Penelope Muxfeld; Luke, Logan, Finnian and Lincoln Johnston, and one grandchild due in December. He is also survived by 8 siblings: Mary of Champaign, Donna (Don) Urban of Spring Bay, Francis "Zip" (Sherry) of Peoria; Nancy Johnston( Cathy Naylor) of Albequerque, NM; Allen (Julia) of  Urbana; Rosalie (Jim) Gerkin of Kokomo, IN; Joe (Connie) of Mahomet;  Paula (Rick) King of Wyoming and many nieces and nephews.

            Doyle is preceded in death by his parents, both sets of grandparents, one brother Gerald "Jerry" Johnston and several aunts and uncles.

            Doyle  loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, working in the garden and keeping busy with other yard work as well.

             Services will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton, Il. with Deacon John Murphy officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton, Illinois. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Wyanet.  Pallbearers are Seth King, Austin King, Cody Bader, Kyle Barkley, Darren Smith and Alex Gerkin. Honorary pallbearer is Todd Williams. Memorials may be directed to Wyanet Rescue Squad. grant-johnsonfh.com

  1. I worked with Linda Doyle’s wife at Sullivan’s for 15 years! And got to know Doyle. He was genuinely a nice guy! And cared for Linda so much! Keeping Linda and her family in my thoughts and prayers!

  4. I’m so sorry to read about Doyle Passing! I drove the school bus for over 20 years and knew Doyle quite well, He was always so kind and helpful to me! I Pray you are al doing as well as you can!
