Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Hey UD (Uncle Doug)! I sure miss you. We sure had fun two Saturday’s ago. I had fun the THREE times we drove between Malden and Princeton! It was a beautiful Fall day and we did all our shopping at RP lumber, Walmart, Culvers for lunch and you helped me find that Bourbon for Jeff’s birthday that I couldn’t find anywhere near Chicago.

Doug, over these last years you’ve told me great stories about my grandparents and about my dad. You’ve taken me all over Malden and Princeton, and the country side. I love our memories at “our booth” in Alexander Park Tavern, and my favorite country drive field trip was to Bureau County’s Witness Tree. You’ve introduced me to so many people in Malden; I was always amazed how many people you’d know when we were at Walmart. Thank you for all the blessings & the laughter you’ve given me.

    UD, I love you.

  2. Uncle Doug, I’ll always remember you for your vast knowledge and enthusiasm to share it, and/or debate on it 🙂 . A particular memory comes to mind at a family reunion when you said, “no great literature has been written since 1970!” As an overzealous teenager, a little inflated with confidence taking her first advanced English course, I wanted to challenge you on that… After getting home, I quickly checked my course’s reading list for the year only to find that none of the classics assigned would be helping me make my counter argument! You had strong opinions that you stood by, and knew how to amuse anyone around you. Beyond that you had a strong pride and love of family. I’ll always remember you coming to my graduation and my wedding. Your memory will live on, as we’ll be sharing your stories for years to come.

  3. Uncle Doug –

While we didn’t have much time together I was so touched to hear that you would be attending mine and Kim’s wedding. I was even more touched to hear that you liked our Invitation photo, believing it to be symbolic of us moving forward on an adventure; apparently you also thought I had a good last name, and I am glad that we share that appreciation.

Rest in Piece and with Love,
    Sam Dawson

  4. I met Doug Phillips in 1994.
He was my Manager at RadioShack. It was my first “Real” job.
He was so nice and patient with me as I learned the ropes.
He became more than just a Boss but a true friend!
Thank you Douglas, for treating me with respect and teaching
me about Selling and about life! RIP
