Dorothy Marie Whisler, 85, of Sheffield died at 12:12 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at Colonial Hall in Princeton. Born April 22, 1928, in Wyanet to Everett and Ida Etta (Benningfield) Stanfield, she married Woodrow W. Whisler Sept. 5, 1946, in Muscatine, Iowa. He died March 21, 2002. She was a graduate of Muscatine High School. She retired from Champion Pneumatic in Princeton. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Sheffield. Surviving are one daughter, Cheryl Taplin of Sheffield; four grandchildren, Chad Hopper of Ottawa, Michele (Marc) Mongan of Princeton, Kelly (Chad) Hunt of Davenport, Iowa, and Matthew Whisler of Bureau; six great-grandchildren, Taylor Steele, Caylla Townsley, Khora Townsley, Kody Mongan, Kelsea Mongan and Braeden Hunt; one sister, Mildred (Jay) Rury of Sheffield; and one daughter-in-law, Patricia Whisler of Kewanee. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one son, Steven Whisler. Cremation Rites will be accorded. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Sheffield Cemetery, Sheffield. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the First United Church of Christ in Sheffield.
