Dorothy Elizabeth Hanchett

Dorothy Elizabeth (Oberg) Hanchett, 96 was born of the parents, John Oberg and Alta Rena (Streicher) Oberg in the farming community of Neponset, Ill on October 26, 1917. She married Ross Everett Hanchett of Bradford IL on Sepetmber 3, 1938 in Iowa. She passed away October 1, 2014 at Ecumen Centennial House, Apple Valley, MN. Born of Dorothy and Everett are three children, Jeantte Doris Alltop of St Paul, MN, Richard Everett Hanchett of Peoria, IL, and Marian Elizabeth (Ray) Ericson of Crossville, TN. She enjoyed 10 grand, 19 great grand, and 3 great great grandchildren. Dorothy , while raising her family and performing the duties of a farmer''s wife, she was able to manage a beauty salon in her home, retiring after 70 years, at the age 0f 90. She never tired of curling hair. Dorothy''s baked pies, freezer corn, homemade angel food cake, and her infectious smile were notoriously well known by her family and friends. Active in her community , she enjoyed membership in the First Baptist Church of Bradford, National Cosmetology Ass''c, Home Bureau, Tops, Eastern Star, Woman''s Club, Bradford Saddle Tramps and Wyanet Cruisers car club. Her life will be celebrated Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Bradford, IL. at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Steve Scott officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Bradford, IL. A gathering after services will be at the First Baptist Church of Bradford.
