Doris J. Bohm

Doris Jacque Johnson Bohm, 98, of Princeton, passed on May 26, 2023. Doris was born March 23, 1925 in Princeton, Illinois, the only child of Roscoe and Vera (Turnbull) Johnson. On February 18, 1945 she married her high school sweetheart, Edward Bohm, at Kasbeer Community Church.
Doris graduated from Princeton High School in 1942 and attended Wheaton College. Doris and Ed farmed in the Van Orin area until Ed’s death in 1986. She was a lifelong member of Kasbeer Church serving as its pianist and as a teacher for Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She served the Kids’ Klubs, Inc. organization faithfully as a teacher in both Van Orin and Ohio and later as a volunteer at the Kids’ Klubs, Inc. office. Twenty years of Malden elementary school’s first and second graders knew her as “Grandma Doris” as she helped them with their reading skills. She was also the pianist for the Senior Citizens Sharps and Flats, an assignment that gave her much joy and many friends. Doris loved to read, loved poetry, loved music, loved watching her birds, and especially loved scripture. She was the prayer warrior for her family, her church, and her friends. Her life was a model of faithfulness, kindness, and generosity.
She is survived by her 4 children: Kenneth (Kathy) Bohm, Karen (Jeff) Barker, Sandra (Brett) Hall, Susan (Dennis) Rockhill. And her 10 grandchildren: Jason (Caroline) Bohm, Megan (Craig) Barone, David (Tara) Bohm, Lance (Megan) Hall, Joseph (Kay) Barker, Liana (Mike) Stites, Miranda (Michael) Fahrenbruch, Hannah (Jackson) Nickolay, Daniel Barker and Katey Lempares, Abigail Rockhill and Jarod Beckler. And her 12 great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Jackson, and Atticus Bohm; Avery, Brooklyn, Caden, and Sutton Barone; Evelyn and Emmitt Bohm; Wolfgang Barker; Noah De Jong; Briggs Hall. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 4, 2023 from 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton. An additional visitation at the church prior to the funeral Monday, June 5, 2023 from 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. The funeral will be on Monday, June 5, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Kasbeer Community Church. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Memorial Park in Princeton.
Memorials may be directed to the Kids' Klubs, Inc. in Malden or Youth for Christ in Peoria.
