Donna J. Lee, 83, of East Moline passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014, in Davenport, Iowa, surrounded by her family following a brief illness. Donna was born May 13, 1931, in Bradford, the daughter of Harry and Myra (Bentley) Dally. Following the death of her mother, Donna was reared by her grandmother, Gertrude Bentley, from age 12 to adulthood. She married Robert Norman Lee in 1951, later divorcing in 1976. She is survived by a son, Robert Edward (Adell) Lee of Moline; four grandchildren, Heather Lee, Amanda (Adam) Ball, Abigail (Joshua) Cox and Alexander (Xio) Lee; six great- grandchildren, Logan, Derek and Livia Cox, Emily and Elizabeth Ball, and Madelyn Lee; as well as several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents. Donna graduated from Bradford High School in 1949 and attended Bradley University. She was a current member of the Christ United Methodist Church in East Moline and a former member of the Leet Memorial United Methodist Church in Bradford. She had been active in the church and sang in the choir. Donna spent time working with numerous charitable organizations. She was an avid genealogist and enjoyed writing, winning several awards for her writing. She wrote, but did not publish, a book on the Bentley family history. Donna had been a den mother for the Cub Scout Pack in Bradford and had served as secretary for the Amaquonsippi Trails Boy Scouts. She also chaperoned many long distance trips taken by the Boy Scouts. Donna was a wonderful mother and mother in-law, as well as a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Bradford, with the Revs. Roger and Joy Perry of the Christ United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Bradford Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the First United Methodist Church of East Moline or to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center in Milan.

  1. Donna was a very good friend. We went thru grade and high school together. Sang in the church choir and high school ensemble together. Donna had a great alto voice. Spent much time with her at the Grandma Bentley’s. Her family was her delight.
