Dolores C. Schafer

Dolores C. Schafer, 93, of Princeton died at 4:15 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at Liberty Village of Princeton. Born Oct. 9, 1924, in New Baden, the son of John and Frances (Richter) Zurliene, she married Donald Schafer Nov. 19, 1954, in Princeton. He died in 1999. Surviving are two sons, Ronald (Debra) Schafer of Princeton and Daniel (Robin Johnson) Schafer of Princeton; four grandchildren, Daniel (April) Schafer of Princeton, Nicholas (Brook) Schafer, Heather (Troy) Chockley of Springfield and Brad Schafer of Princeton; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Loraine McMahon of Princeton and Doris Lewis of Princeton; two brothers, John (Ellen) Zurliene of Nashville, Tenn., and Herbert (Sue) Zurliene of Princeton; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters. She was the owner and operator of the grocery store in Kasbeer. She also worked beside her husband on the family farm. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton with Father Daniel Gifford officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation will be prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton.
