Dennis "Snake" Lee Chamberlain, 71, of Henry, Illinois passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at his home in Henry on the day of their 35th wedding anniversary. .

Cremation rites will be accorded and a graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2020 at Henry Cemetery, Henry, Illinois, with Rev. Jenny Suydam officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the Henry American Legion Post # 323

Dennis was born April 29, 1949 in Streator, Illinois the son of Vernon "Jake" and Laura (Miller) Chamberlain. He married Kathlene Carlson on July 8, 1985 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Chillicothe, Illinois. She survives in Henry.

He is also survived by 3 children: Brent (Rachel) Livek of Portland, Oregon, Amy Livek of Peoria, Illinois, and LJ (Angela) Chamberlain of Mendota, Illinois; 2 granddaughters; 3 siblings: Sally (Mike) Arnett of Princeton, Illinois, Beth Chamberlain of Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin, and Jim (Carolyn) Chamberlain of East Peoria, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers: Jeffrey Chamberlain and Jerry "Bear" Chamberlain.

Snake attended Henry Schools and graduated from Tiskilwa High School with the Class of 1967.

After High School he joined the 101st Airborne in the Army. He served in Vietnam and was the top sharp shooter in his platoon.

After the service Dennis worked at Caterpillar in Mossville, IL. He also worked as a farmer, at Foley Motors, and Napa.

Snake enjoyed playing pool and riding Harley's, which he also built and restored. He liked music, golfing, camping, fishing, and hunting. He also rebuilt a 64 Chevy which won a lot of trophies. Dennis loved to travel on his bike, including trips around the U.S. with his wife. In his travels he took 3 trips to the Caribbean. Dennis loved people and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed playing cards and reminiscing with his Chamberlain family.  His wife, children, and granddaughters were everything to him.

Dennis started his sobriety August 23, 1991 and faithfully attended AA meetings and sponsored numerous members.

  2. Kathy, I am so sorry to hear the news. I am so grateful that my son and I got to see you guys a few years ago when we were visiting my mom. I have a great picture of all of us from that day sitting in the living room. Thinking of Dennis always makes me smile. God bless you all.
