Deirdre "Dee Dee" Hartz, 48, of Brownstown, formerly of Vandalia, died at 6:30 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2012, at Fayette County Hospital. She was born April 28, 1963, in Sterling to Vernon Louis Harp Sr. and Florence Malinda (Parker) Harp, both deceased. She was an office manager for YMCA of Fayette County. She was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church of Vandalia. Surviving are her fiance, Ronnie Hagy of Brownstown; four daughters, Courtney Younker, Miranda Velazquez, Candace Hartz, and Whitney Hartz, all of Vandalia; four sisters, Muriel Morris and husband Michael of San Antonia, Texas; Carol Forbeck and husband Gerald of Tiskilwa, Linda Jessen of Davenport, Iowa, and Kathy Piper of Davenport, Iowa; two brothers, Vernon L. Harp Jr. and wife Tammy of Rockford and James Harp and wife Linda of Cambridge; and seven grandchildren, Braydon, Bailey, Rylee, Trinity, Zoie, Jamison and Corbin, all of Vandalia. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Verna. A memorial service will be at 7 p.m Friday at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Vandalia. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Manlius Cemetery with the Rev. Brenda Lovick officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Dee Dee Hartz Memorial Scholarship at the Family YMCA of Fayette County. The Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in charge of local arrangements.
