David “Dave” Alvin Camp, 57, of Princeton, IL passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024, following a car accident.

Dave was born on June 14, 1967, in Kewanee, IL the son of Omar and Margaret “Peg” (Young) Smith. He married Melinda Annette Ott on August 27, 1994, in Hollowayville, IL. Dave worked as a cellular field engineer for several companies throughout his career including Motorola, Nokia and until his passing he was with CTS.  Dave was a member of the Princeton Bowling Association and the American Legion Post 125 Baseball League. He was an avid sports fan, especially Princeton Tigers, and enjoyed watching or coaching football, basketball, baseball and bowling. Dave was a huge Chicago Cubs, Fighting Illini, and Chicago Bears Fan, but most of all he loved his family and spending time with them. He will truly be missed by all those who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Melinda Camp of Princeton, four children, Michael (Haley) Camp of Princeton, Alexis Camp of Princeton, Drew (Madi) Camp of Kewanee and Derek Camp of Princeton; three grandchildren, Colsyn Camp, Amelia Reudner, Layleigh Smith; 13 siblings, Becky (Jimbo) Erwin of Bureau, Susan and the late Riley Travis of Wyanet, Kelly (Karen) Camp of Normal, Robin Eikenberry of Rock Falls, Jeff (Jessica) Camp of Joliet, Jason (Jamie) Smith of Wyanet, Jean “Tootie” Crotts, Bonnie Shofner of Wyanet, Anita (Rick) Wilson of Henry, Gail Heredia of Chillicothe, Pam Sutherland of Princeton, Lisa Nelson of Buda, Thomas (Jill) Smith of Wyanet; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Janet Wier.

Visitation will be held from 3:00pm-7:00pm on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Princeton, IL. Cremation Rites will be accorded following the visitation.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Melinda Camp Benefit Account at Heartland Bank.

  4. My condolences to the family and friends of Dave. I bowled with Dave many years ago before him and Melinda was married. Even though it’s been a long time since then I was saddened about his passing and injuries to his wife and son and hope they will recover fully. While Dave is now in Gods hands, may God also be with his family and friends and give them peace and healing. God Bless U All!!
