Craig L. Sapp, 74, of Wyanet, Illinois passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois after a brief illness.

He was born April 23, 1947 in Princeton, Illinois the son of Arnold and Anita "Connie" (Conner) Sapp.

Craig is survived by two sons: Jason (Elizabeth) Sapp of Buffalo, NY and Jacob (Marisa) Sapp of Reedley, CA; two grandsons: Calvin and Mason of California; 2 siblings: Wayne (Cathy) Sapp of Maysville, IA and Marilyn Hevener of West Lafayette, Indiana; two nephews: Corey, Eric, and two nieces: Jennifer, and Mariah; and his significant other, Jean Whaples.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Tracie Sapp, and one son, Matthew Sapp.

He graduated from Wyanet High School with the Class of 1966. After high school he served in the United States Navy as an aircraft electrician. Craig served two tours in the Vietnam War. He earned his Associates Degree from Reedley College in California. 

He worked for GTE, now Frontier, for 28 years before retiring.

He was a member of the Wyanet V.F.W. Post #6634. Craig enjoyed country dancing and sports. He was a Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs fan.  

A funeral service will be held Monday, July 19, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Grant-Johnson Funeral Homes, Princeton, Illinois. A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Monday, July 19, 2021 at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton, prior to the service. Burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery, Wyanet, Illinois with military rites conducted by the Wyanet V.F.W. Post #6634 and the Princeton Veterans Group. Memorials may be directed to the Wyanet V.F.W. Post #6634.
