Connie Mae Pierson

January 31, 1943 ~ July 31, 2022
On Sunday July 31, 2022 Connie Mae Pierson, loving devoted wife, Mother,and grandmother passed away at the age of 79 peacefully at Helia Healthcare in Energy, IL. Connie bravely battled dementia and diabetes along with multiple lockdowns due to the pandemic until she was called home by her Heavenly Father.
Connie was born January 31, 1943 in Holgate,OH to Floyd and Mildred Anderson. Growing up her family enjoyed many camping adventures. Ballet and piano were her interests. Connie graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School in Pittsburgh, PA. Connie attended Texas Lutheran College for 2 years in the music program where she met her future husband, Darwin Hugh Pierson. Connie soon moved to Illinois where her marriage took place in Yorktown on November 18, 1961. Connie and Darwin enjoyed many trail rides,picnics,boating with friends,spending time with family until they were blessed with 4 children.
Connie attended Blackhawk College and received her Associate Degree for Office Assistant. Connie was an office assistant/legal assistant for many years until she needed a change of pace. Connie completed her CNA training and worked in the healthcare field for 23 years taking care of the elderly which was one of her passions. Connie excelled in the field of music and played the organ for over 20 years at Trinity Lutheran Church in Manlius, IL. Connie also taught piano lessons out of her home in Sheffield,IL. Connie was a long-time resident of Sheffield until she moved to Murphysboro,IL to help her daughter Candace. Connie looked forward to attending church services and church events with Candace during her time in southern Illinois. Connie also loved cheering on her grandson Benjamin at his baseball games and watching him play at the park.
Throughout her life, Connie was an active church member and truly enjoyed meeting new people, however her true passion was for her family which she was 100% dedicated to at all times. Connie loved attending her childrens' sporting events including: volleyball,basketball,track and Tae Kwon Do in addition to band & choir concerts during their high school years. Connie cherished her time with family and friends. Connie was always there to help a friend in need with her time/car rides/donations or a listening ear.
Connie-always the biggest ILLINI Fan- was happiest cheering on the football team for 10 years. Connie also enjoyed swimming,taking walks,movies, travel, and attending Christian concerts with her daughter, Candace. A memorable moment was meeting Joey and Rory at the DuQuoin Fair.
Connie loved riding the Southwest Chief Amtrak train with her husband to visit their son Kendall and family in Albuquerque,NM. The Balloon Fiesta was a highlight of those trips. Connie relished several trips to Park City,UT and SanDiego, CA with her daughter Lynae and family. Snowtubing for the first time was her favorite activity in Utah.Connie adored her daughter, Suzanne and her talent for hairdressing as well as her personal shopper and looked forward to her many visits and going out to dinner. Connie was always smiling when she saw her grandson,Andrew and was happy during their time together.
Connie loved our Lord Jesus with her whole heart and with unwavering faith marched through life according to God's plan.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents: Floyd J. Anderson and Mildred M. Anderson(Oberhaus), her brother Darryl J. Anderson and her beloved daughter Candace K. Pierson-DeShazo.
Connie is survived by her husband Darwin H. Pierson; her brother, Phillip Anderson; her children: Dr. Kendall H. Pierson(Satjeet) of Albuquerque, NM, Dr. Lynae A. Pierson(Stephen Kovach) of Columbus, OH and Suzanne Pierson(Kevin Doyle) of Edwardsville, IL as well as her beautiful grandchildren: Logan Pierson, Kira Mangam,Kaeleigh Kovach, Kaliapi Kovach, Andrew Doyle, and Benjamin DeShazo.
Visitation will be Monday, August 8 from 5-7pm at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 9 at 10am at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton,IL with Rev. Ryan Sutton, officiating. Burial will take place in Yorktown Cemetery. We always looked forward to visiting with Connie and her beautiful family. We cherish our memories together and will always remember our family visits. God created families for love and support, and Connie was a strong part that loving bond between us. We do look forward to being all together with our loving Father and with Connie and Candace.
